Lorelai smiled at her reflection in the mirror. She was bundled up in her winter coat, jeans, and boots. She put on a woolen cap with daisies on, and reached for her favorite necklace. Silver, with small crystals in the chain. Luke had given it to her. After they apologized to each other, had that ridiculous fight in the car lot, and after Luke had gone to extremes to make sure Rory's bon voyage party wouldn't get rained on, it was inevitable that they would get back together. They had been dating again for three months now, and it was going strong.
Hearing the door knock, Lorelai went downstairs and opened the door with a smile.
"Hi." She said.
"Hey there." Luke replied. "You look beautiful."
Lorelai blushed. "Thanks. You don't looks so bad yourself."
"Well." Luke said with a shrug. "You did pick out the outfit."
"I know, I've got great taste, don't I?"
Luke smiled and kissed her. Lorelai sighed and kissed him back before pulling away slightly with an impish smile.
"If this is just your way of getting me to be quiet-"
Another kiss. This time Luke pulled away, thingying his eyebrow as he waited for her to continue.
"Good strategy."
Luke smiled and put his arm around her shoulders, leading her to the town square. The first snow of the season had come, and Lorelai smiled at the beauty of it all.
"So what are we doing tonight?" Lorelai asked.
"You'll see." Luke said, pulling out a silk scarf. Standing behind Lorelai, he tied it gently over her eyes.
"Okay, you do understand the concept of actually being able to see, right?" Lorelai asked.
"No peeking." Luke said as he took her hand.
They walked through the streets, Luke's hand clasped firmly around hers as the snow crunched beneath their boots.
"We're coming up to a few stairs." Luke said, wrapping his arm around her for support. "Easy."
Lorelai couldn't stop smiling as they came to a stop after about four or five steps.
"Luke, what's going on?" She asked.
"Patience." Luke said, pulling the scarf from her eyes.
Lorelai could not stop the gasp that flew from her mouth. They were standing in the pavilion, and it, along with the entire street, was completely lined with white lights. On the floor of the pavilion, red rose petals were scattered everywhere. It looked just like a scene out of a Christmas card.
"Luke, I can't believe you did all this." Lorelai said. She looked over to him, and tears filled her eyes as she watched him drop to one knee before her.
"Luke..." For the first time in her life, Lorelai was at a loss for words.
"Lorelai, when I lost you, I knew I hit rock bottom. I never want that feeling again. I only want, for the rest of my life, to be with you, and have you standing beside me."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a ring. He looked into her eyes.
"Lorelai Victoria Gilmore.... Will you marry me?"
Lorelai smiled through her tears. "Yes!"
Luke slipped the ring on her finger, rose to his feet and pulled her into a tight embrace before kissing her deeply.
"Now this would be a perfect picture." Lorelai thought to herself.
